Rooney saw red just after the hour mark when he was shown two yellow cards straight after each other after a cynical reaction to a booking.

The England striker was not happy that referee Nielsen booked him for a foul on Quique Alvarez, and responded by sarcastically applauding the referee for the decision - resulting in a swift second booking and a red card.
