my grumbles from the trip..
- What does hong kong MTR stations lack?
ans: escalators/lifts.. they dun even have ramps...
seriously.. very inconvenient for tourists lugging tons of baggages..
i'm embarassed to say that even shenzhen and guangzhou's metros dun face the problem..
- During the trip, the chinese govt conveniently decided to declare 3 days of mourning.. well, thats fine with me.. showing respect..
EXCEPT for the fact that every single TV channel is displaying the same television program.. if you happen to be in hk or china last week u'll understand.. EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL..
- Who enjoys seeing a television program where say 200 people queue up, each holding envelops of money, waiting for their turn to SMILE and den depositing the cash into a large transparent box?
wait.. thats not all.. they do that EVERYDAY.. u can see it on the HK MTR, on the television, on the shenzhen metro, on giant screens in guangzhou etc.. u get my point..
firstly, its already insensitive to smile.. its a publicity stunt that the chinese have fallen for..
- then this herbal tea company donates 100 million yuan... wow.. and the newspaper publishes a report and some people interviewed have since switched from drinking coke to herbal tea..
let me guess, the larger the donation, the nicer the herbal tea tastes...
it is all about publicity.. the companies are making use of the disaster for their benefit.. dumb people jus dun get it... no sane listed company will do 亏本生意..
i just feel i have the responsibility to point it out...
anyway back in singapore.. i somehow begun to appreciate our mrt stations a little more.. for they are equipped with, lo and behold, LIFTS, ESCALATORS and RAMPS! yay!
point out one more thing.. ever noticed how moronic quite a number of the hk bus fare system is? you pay the full fare no matter how many stops you take.. eg. 4 HKD or 4.30 HKD flat rate when u board..
took the bus quite a number of times cuz the walk to the hotel from the MTR was too steep... think the steepness of the peak tram.. (hotel nearby)..
oh.. and how you have the option of buying student concessionary tickets at the automatic ticket vending machine for the MTR... (really handy) *wink
