Singapore, 25 February 2005 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics), today announced that it has won a S$10.5 million contract to supply Platform Screen Doors (PSD) for Taipei’s Mucha Extension (Neihu) Line in Taiwan. ... ST Electronics Taiwan will design, supply, install and commission the platform screen doors for the 12-station Neihu Line
Aug 13, 2009 THE first sets of platform screen doors designed to keep people off the train tracks went up on Wednesday at Pasir Ris MRT station.
Jurong East and Yishun stations will be next and all three stations will have doors fitted by the end of the year. The remaining 33 above-ground MRT stations will get them from January next year.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is spending $126 million on the project and aims to complete work on the remaining 33 stations by 2012.
Singapore Technologies Electronics, which won the contract to install the doors, is carrying out the works. But don't worry. We have to pay more so as to prevent corruption. Even in this case, we need to ensure that ST Electronics do not provide substandard glass doors! This is how things work here. You pay top dollars for crap!
