i hate it when.......

people complain about their jobs... unless they work in the SAF...

for eg. those who go: "my pay is sooo low", 'my working hours are sooo long', "my boss is soooo mean", my workplace is so far (Hello... i've to take a ferry to get to mine) etc etc etc.... haha all that type of crap..

they fail to think about us Protectors of the Nation who are given a measly $349.20 (we're forced to pay for 2 magazines, 40 cents each, which i've yet to receive even 1) a month... that works out to about erm..... $11 a day...

ok u may argue that food & accomodation are provided, and we book out on weekends...

but our working hours are 5.45am - 10.30pm.. kinda not your average working hours...

and most of the time we book out around noon on sat and book in on sun in e evening..

this works out to us being worse off than maids...

not to mention we put our lives at risk throwing live grenades n shooting live rounds... (which truthfully speaking is quite fun though).. lol..

but nevertheless we lose 2 years of our prime... someone in my bunk did a calculation and he reckons we'll only break even with females who worked these 2 years extra until we reach the age of about 40... kinda sucks...

worse still i cannot get my damn driving license... simply have no time and its so expensive on weekends... damn it...

ok i admit i'm complaining... nearly 3 months into NS but i still nurse a hatred towards NS.. perhaps more than 3 months ago.............

List of items useful on enlistment day.. complied by someone else, edited by me..

----------------
ADMIN ITEMS
-----------------
1) Enlistment Letter & other documents MINDEF sent you. (dun really need la.. letter will do)
2) NRIC <--- rmb to take a picture of it.. u'll only get to see it 2 years later.. haiz, i forgot to do so..
3) Pens <--- erm not really necessary..
4) Permanent ink black marker (I prefer fine tip) <-- impt
----------------------
PERSONAL ITEMS
----------------------
1) Small lock for wardrobe <--- dun bother if u're in sch 2.. they provide a better 1..
2) Basic Toiletries
- Toothpaste & brush (given but cheapskate ones tt i dun use)
- Soap/shower foam & shampoo
- Shaver (given but cheapskate ones tt i dun use)
- Nail clippers (there's something called borrow)
3) Prickly heat powder (like 2 BIG ones.. cost $2.50-$4 i think)
4) Handphone & spare batt (don't bring charger 'cos u can't use it) (but rmb u can do anything in camp, jus dun get caught)
5) Slippers (as light as possible, u'll be carrying it when u route march)
6) Alarm Clock (IMPT)
7) Black Watch (optional)
8- 2 or 3 more admin shirt, pt shirt and black shorts, purchasable @ beach road @ $4 each.. and also 1 pair of white socks.. (buy it cose u need a specific type)
9) black tape

-------------------------------
CLOTHES/ACCESSORIES
--------------------------------
1) Sufficient Underwear (14 pieces to be precise.. unless u intend to do washing, which trust me u wun want to in ur confinement period)
2) Washing powder or liquid (I brought powder)
3) Clothes hangers & pegs <----- @ least 6 hangers... pegs redundant
4- if u forget to bring towels, gd luck.. they give 2.. damn thick n damn hard to dry... so bring those 1 for $1 type.. i suggest bring 7 @ least.. dun reuse too many times la...
----------------------
MISCELLANEOUS
----------------------
1) Safety Pins <--- not too sure if u really need this..

-------------
FIRST AID
-------------
1) Panadol <--- i din bring
2) YokoYoko or some other muscle rub <--- brought counterpain
3) Plasters <--- might need

Keep in mind, you have limited space in the locker. And you WILL have stand by bed inspection so its not like you can stuff all the junk in the locker any old how.

So just bring in the above. Once you're in camp you can figure out what else you need & get it from emart.

also bring tidbits... the best time to bring in cose all subsequent book ins ur bags will be subjected to inspections... things to bring : cup noodles, chocolates, sweets, chips and anything u like la..

u can bring toilet rolls but no need la.. almost 3 months i haven even use finish 3 rolls they giv..

tip: the best way to have a enjoyable confinement is to book out during the confinement.. LOL... trust me... been there done that.. if possible try all means n ways (dental appointment, specialist appointment, scholarship interview, collection of results, will surely work... u can also try to get a fever above 38.5 C [ eat toothpaste, dun drink water, bathe liao dun wear clothes, etc]) to book out halfway thru.. u can go home (and trust me the feeling of e 1st time reaching home is fantastic), plus u can wash ur clothes... u will eat non-stop...

way to go MPH...

u rock!

*laughs* @ suckers... HAHA....

life will nv be e same again.. and wat great timing, jus when i needed it.. :)

muahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa
