some interesting stuff i learn during my medic course..
tot i'll share some stuff...
-some people dont have to train up to get 6 packs.. all they do is breathe... seriously... this is true for people with COPD (chronic obstructive plumonary disease) such as bronchial asthma, emphysema or chronic bronchitis.. this is as they make use of their intercostal muscle a lot to breathe (more difficult) so they auto develop 6 packs.. lol... soon huat has asthma and 6 pack... hmmmm
-if u see someone get knocked by a car, fall from height or injured and hit his head, DO NOT move him from his position.. one wrong move, his spinal cord snap, and he'll be on a wheelchair 4 e rest of this life.. leave it to the paramedics *cough me *cough*, we're trained for spinal management..
-when u have cough, dont self medicate.. taking e wrong medicine will worsen e cough.. for wet cough (w phlegm), u've to take expectorants whereas for dry cough, u've to take suppresants (e.g. codeine)
-did u noe gonorrhoea doesnt just affect private parts?? according to my instructor, he see b4 in mouth or @ e rectum, and its "fascinating".. its very common in gay states, if u get wat i mean..
-try avoid taking antibiotics... virus develops immunity to them over time and if u fall ill (i.e. cancer) when u grow old, normal antibiotics wont work and doctors will have to use very strong dose/ other potent kind (chemo) which will cause hair loss etc. also on antibiotics, dun talk milk/durian after taking them.. u'll get diarrhoea..
-taking excessive panadol is bad.. causes stones in liver or kidney.. cant rmb which... for menstrual pain, take naproxen instead (over e counter drug)
-when doing cpr in a life saving scenario, breaking the person's ribs is almost a confirm thing.. its only a matter of how many u break..
-shows always bullshit.. when u shock a patient (i.e. defibrillating, u noe e "clear" thing in shows), u cant shock when his heart beat stops.. its useless.. u can only shock when his heartbeat is not regular.. on e other hand, shocking someone with regular heartbeat will make his heart stop..
-if ur breath smells damn nice naturally (i.e. sweet smelling), and u cant see properly or have blood in ur urine, u have diabetes.. see a doctor..
-if u have blood in ur urine but have no diabetes, u have kidney damage.. good luck.. or either that u've been exercising too much without resting at all.. time to stop..
-allergies are very serious (whether food/drug/enviroment).. dun take risks.. ur trachea might get swollen and die from shortness of breath..
-for sexually active people (SAP in short), esp females, dont forget to go for PAP smear (smear test) to check for cysts.. unless u dun 1 2 give birth forever...
-if u are pcc (pale, cool and clamy), u're dying soon.. seriously..
-research shows that people with a religion tend to have a better immune system.. the body releases some kind of hormones...
-some people are allergic to sunlight.. their skin peel.. seriously very fast.. its called Erythropoietic Protoporphyria (epp).. or vampirelism..

How much is enough insurance?
BUYING the right amount of insurance is a tricky issue. But getting it right could be one of the most important decisions of your life. Most consumers are still stuck on which insurance they should buy, never mind the right amount. Indeed, very few clients seem to get it right.
One of the most ridiculous things I encounter is the notion that a lot of premiums mean a person is well covered. Unfortunately, this is not the case. People who spend 30 per cent of their income on insurance are to be consoled, not admired.
Clients often ask: 'How much should I spend on premiums?' The answer is not 5 per cent or 10 per cent of your income. The answer is: 'As little as possible to get enough cover.' Spend only what you must to get it right.
It's important to get adequate insurance cover. And it's not just getting cover for death but for illnesses as well.
Healthcare costs in Singapore is very high. The total treatment cost for cancer can come up to $100,000. And with 1 out of every 6 persons in a developed country getting it, it's important to get this kind of cover. The reason is simple, if you become sick with it, most companies will terminate your employment (Robinsons is the exception). So, when this happens, where are you going to get the money to treat it?
And after you get cancer, you basically become un-insurable, even if you have been declared free of the disease.
So, please do yourself a favour, speak to an insurance agent and get yourself insured for death, disability and major illnesses like heart disease and cancer.

Fixed establishments and mobile medical units of the Medical Service may in no circumstances be attacked, but shall at all times be respected and protected by the Parties to the conflict. Should they fall into the hands of the adverse Party, their personnel shall be free to pursue their duties, as long as the capturing Power has not itself ensured the necessary care of the wounded and sick found in such establishments and units.
The responsible authorities shall ensure that the said medical establishments and units are, as far as possible, situated in such a manner that attacks against military objectives cannot imperil their safety.

i hate being unwealthy... i hate saf...
practically all e pple around me have greater spendin power than me... they have atm cards, debit cards, wads of cash in their wallets, live in bigger flats/houses (in fact i cant think of anyone who doesnt atm), earn more money and some are about to get their license (something i want badly too but its so costly and i just dont have the time to get it, and e tot of learnin on a weekend makes my heart bleed, n my wallet..) ok maybe i can jus brush it off n say: 'also not my money cos most probably my parents will sponsor' but to me i feel its still My Parent's Money...
they buy mp3s, laptops, hps, pda, collectibles, games, pcs, digicams like as though 'hey wats e big deal man its only a few hundred worthless metal pieces'... as if shopping is a entitlement, not just a privilege...
i have no laptop, my mp3 player is thompson (wth is there even such a brand of mp3 rite?? - it came FREE with my hp and has an amazing storage capacity of 64mb ) , my hp is 1.5 yrs old, my pc is 4 yrs old, i have no pda, have no digicam....
ok i have a psp... wow.. ya so i spent money.. but i earned e money spent back.. i just felt obliged.. dun ask me why....
why is it so??? screw my current occupation.. 2 years of my life and i'm given measly pay - or meagre[whichever is worse] (ok so does every other person "contributing to the nation" but u get wat i mean)... like wth is this... even if i save all thru e 2 yrs i think not even enuf for 1 yr of Uni... which simply put, sucks...
i'm just feeling sore.. nothing much.. let me whine and despair & drown in my sorrows...
money is very important, and so is time (i noe there're others too.. health, frens, national security, world peace, clean n green enviroment, geneva convention, globalisation, racial harmony, religious harmony, ridding terrorists, higher birth rates, democracy, alternative sources of fuels, attend c, book out days, nights off.. blah blah blah).. and currently these 2 are the things i'm very deprived off...
so if u could be so kind, u could send me a cheque of any amt, or atm transfer some money to me, or u could even paypal it to me at my account treblers@hotmail.com ... ok i'm just kidding.. no seriously.. i'll rob a bank instead, or a money changer for a change.. ahh.. the pun.. ~bitter laughter~
edit: not only is my/our allowance meagre/pathetic/measly.. i/we often have to buy things for ns under our own tab.. take the items in bmt tts more familiar.. pickly heat powder, ziploc bags, L torch, coms cord, umbrella pin, arc of fire sticks.. who pays for these.. my/our 350 allowance does as a matter of fact.. oh ya n there's this latest ruling that we will have to sew SINGAPORE above our left breast pocket to differentiate us from ncc.. ok the tag cost $1 each n sewing each tag costs $1.. and e qns is: where will e money come from.. hmmm.. let me guess... my allowance again???
cant e garment be more generous and give us allowance of like 1k?? or at e very least contribute cpf???? tts like wat other A lvls students WHO DO NOT HAVE TO SERVE e nation in a way we do - wastin 2 yrs - get paid..
i mean... e gahment spends so much money on defence each year.. like 20% of expenditure?? (roughly la i cant rmb exactly) but u noe where these goes??
1) they go to paying for the diesel what the drivers use when they take detours so that they can clock mileage so they can convert to class 3 license
2) they go to paying for the extra blanks and grenades and rounds that the instructors use because they're lazy to return them
3) they go to paying for the many many many FADs and shell dressings that become expired
4) they go to paying for hartmann solns (IV soln) that is 1 litre and yet only 50 ml is used before it is thrown away
5) they go to paying for meals which totally taste like crap in tekong and costs $5 each
6) and many many more...
oh god i'm such a whiner...
i hate such people..
wth wayang king... bloody area cleanin ic we area clean kpkb walk around ask pple clean this clean tt and nv even help out.. throw rubbish cannot find others to do... keep insisting we clear... pissed off...
nvm stand by bed got mistakes... wayang number 1.. arrange debrief session in front of instructors.. supposed to "keep it short" but den go "OH SORRY GUYS ITS MY FAULT" i didnt do this, i didnt do tt... WTH!!!!! HELLO!!!!!.. ITS BOOKOUT day & its about to rain SUPER HEAVILY and i jus got jabbed one extra time for nothing so next time jus GET TO THE POINT and dun elaborate on everything..
someone tell him u cant get posted to OCS/sispec after graduating from SMM as a medic PLEASE!! this isnt some sit test bullshit...
i just cant stand such pple......... their exsistence is a nuisance...
